How we work
Four phases, from a first conversation to a plan we review with you at least once a year. Here is what each one involves.
Fact find
Where you are, and what you want to achieve
We start by building a complete picture of where you are now. That covers what you have, what you owe, your existing arrangements and your tax position. There is nothing to prepare beforehand, and we can gather what we need on your behalf.
Then your objectives: what you want to achieve and by when. Everyone’s priorities are different, and they shape the whole plan. This is also where we establish how much investment risk is appropriate for you, and how much you are comfortable taking.
Analysis
Modelling it, then showing you the plan
Every client’s position is different, so the work here follows the fact find. We run the numbers, often using cash flow modelling, to test whether what you have gets you where you want to be and what it would take if it does not.
We are looking for ways to improve the plan and make it more efficient. Sometimes you are already on track and should change very little, and we would rather say so. Then we present the plan, what each option leads to, and what our advice costs.
Implementation
Putting the advice into effect for you
Once you have approved the plan, we put the advice into effect for you. You will know where things stand at each stage.
We are your point of contact throughout. Nothing is put in place that you have not agreed to, and nothing proceeds without your written approval.
Review
Keeping the plan matched to your life
We sit down with you at least once a year. Circumstances move, and so do the rules: allowances change most years, and from April 2027 unused pension funds start counting towards inheritance tax, which alters a decision plenty of people made a decade ago.
A review looks at whether the plan still fits your life, whether it is on track, and what has changed that affects you. Where something needs adjusting, we adjust it. If something significant is in progress we will meet more often than annually.
Where this leads
The phases are the same whatever brought you here
What differs is which part of the plan carries the weight. If you already know roughly what you want to talk about, the work usually sits in one of these.
